In order to create a thriving, powerful chess program you need excellent leadership, a strong vision and also a team that’s fully committed to the growth of these young chess players. The Day & Knight Chess Club is proud have Randolph McNeil in the role of vice chairman, and he is a vital force behind community development, as well as education. His focus is to shape the mission of our organization, all while educating the youth to learn more about chess and become the best version of themselves they always wanted.

Randolph McNeil’s background

Randolph McNeil has always worked in operations, organizational development, but also projects that focus on community impact. He works as a director of Operations for Education Works Consulting Firm Inc, where he is overseeing offices from the US and South Africa. This role allows Randolph to provide strategic solutions and initiate best practices, while also having a great commitment when it comes to success.

His work has always been focused on helping organizations grow, while also making the right impact. Aside from that, Randolph is also a huge part of community leadership. He is the vice chair of Mental Health and Social Justice Inc, which is a nonprofit active in both South Africa and the US. He’s always been focused on mental health, hence his true focus on introducing the youth to chess and offering them a new way to get past their struggles. Plus, chess also allows them to thrive and that alone is a game-changer in more ways than expected.

His passion for chess

One of the things that everyone knows about Randolph McNeil is that he’s always been very passionate about chess. He has been playing chess from a very young age, and he continues to be a great player even today. Chess is at his core of ideas, because it influences the same things he values in life.

Randolph McNeil appreciates perseverance, problem-solving skills and patience, all of which are things that you can acquire and improve via chess. It’s a game that aligns with Randolph’s own values, and it continues to impress in more ways than expected. Additionally, it never really goes away, because you get to improve with even more foresight and critical thinking, along with self-control and powerful resilience.

All these skills are mirroring the competencies that Randolph McNeil has in his work outside of chess. He’s committed to preparing young people to become the best they can be in chess. And in doing so, he is also offering them a new way to improve, become the best version of themselves and continually push the boundaries in everything they can do.

Offering strategic direction to the Day & Knight Chess Club

Randolph McNeil is here to help provide the strategic approach and direction for our club as the vice chairman of the board of directors. The board covers multiple professionals from different backgrounds, and is here to support the programs, set priorities, while also ensuring that the overall governance is in line with the core ideas and values of the organization, a crucial part of the process.

One of the reasons why Randolph McNeil was named into this role was the true focus that he brings when it comes to leadership. He is passionate about chess and has been playing for a very long time. But he is also one of the few people that want to educate the community, and he promotes a sense of fairness for each event created by the organization. He’s also one of the first people that focused on initiating and growing the free monthly tournaments, which are a huge hit within the community.

Randolph McNeil has a great resume, but it’s his personality that shines. He is someone that truly loves and supports the game of chess, and he has the belief that you can use chess as a way to boost personal development and access greater education. A lot of families try to find a purpose for their child and many times, chess is the way to that result, which is downright impressive.
