Edwin Ruiz

Edwin Ruiz founded Day & Knight Chess Club in 2022, driven by a vision to expand its programs to reach more students and diverse demographics. With over six years of teaching experience, he integrates his USCF-rated chess expertise into the curriculum, aiming to become a national master. Edwin graduated with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Cal Poly Pomona, where he served as the president of the Chess Club, a role he also held at Norco College. His mission is to help others incorporate chess into their lives, fostering critical thinking and strategic skills.

As the Founder and President of Day & Knight Chess Club, Edwin oversees all nonprofit activities, including program development, community outreach, and strategic planning. He ensures the organization adheres to its mission, manages fundraising efforts, and maintains compliance with 501(c)(3) regulations. Edwin’s leadership is key to driving the organization’s growth and impact, making chess education accessible to a broader audience.
